KORAT, THAILAND – The Korat Sky-Lions Basketball Club is proud to officially announce the hiring of Edmund Ray Manuel as the first Head Coach in franchise history.

Stepping in during the most high-pressure stretch of the season, Manuel led the Red Dragons through the Semi-Finals and Finals to a league title, maintaining a perfect 100% win rate during his tenure.

A Modern Approach: The “Analytical Edge”

What sets Coach Manuel apart is his unique blend of traditional basketball IQ and modern data science. With a background as a Bank and Manufacturing Analyst, he brings a “computational” mindset to the Sky-Lions sideline. Utilizing advanced statistical modeling and coaching software. Manuel optimizes player rotations and scouting reports with mathematical precision.

“I don’t just coach by intuition; I coach with evidence-based strategies,” says Coach Manuel. “Our goal at Korat is to maximize every player’s potential while ensuring the team operates as a highly efficient, disciplined unit.”

A Legacy of Development and Discipline

Beyond his recent TEBA championship, Coach Manuel’s resume is a testament to consistency and reliability. With over 12 years of professional experience across the corporate, educational, and athletic sectors, he has a long history of success, including:

  • Coach of the Season honors in the Elite Basketball League.

  • Championship titles across multiple leagues, including the Inter-Barangay and Geo Basketball circuits.

  • Holistic Mentorship: A dedicated international educator who focuses on developing athletes who are as disciplined off the court as they are on it.

Building the “Pride”

For the Sky-Lions, hiring Manuel is a statement of intent for the 2026 inaugural season. His experience managing diverse rosters—including international import players and local Thai talent—aligns perfectly with the Sky-Lions’ mission to bridge the gap between local potential and global opportunity.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Manuel to the Pride,” said the Korat Sky-Lions ownership team. “We were  looking for a leader who embodies our ‘True Professional’ mantra—someone with the character, the work ethic, and the tactical mind to win at the highest level. In Edmund, we found exactly that. His championship pedigree speaks for itself.”

Coach Manuel has already begun work on the Sky-Lions’ strategic framework as the team prepares for the upcoming US Pro Tryouts in Florida.
